Russian manufacturers need to prepare for the fact that the parallel import mechanism, launched in May and allowing the import of certain goods into the Russian Federation without the consent of the copyright holder, may soon be canceled, said Deputy Prime Minister – Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov.
„Today, we have parallel imports. We did this deliberately in order to balance the market. But this is a temporary solution. Get ready for the fact that we will soon cancel parallel imports by groups (of goods – IF) when we understand that we have there are enough Russian products,” he said during an inspection of an exhibition of Udmurt industrial enterprises as part of a working trip to Udmurtia as part of a delegation led by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
Addressing the representative of the Udmurt OA „Concern” „Aksion”, which presented at the exhibition, among other things, household appliances, the head of government noted the importance of collecting data on the current market share of domestic products and the prospects for growth in this share. “You need to know the market share. Then you can build a strategy to replace all parallel imports. This is very important,” Mishustin stressed.
For Manturov, this is the first working trip with the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation in the status of Deputy Prime Minister: the decision to appoint him Deputy Prime Minister while maintaining the position of Minister was approved on July 15.
At present, the mechanism of parallel imports operates until the end of the year. At the same time, the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of the Russian Federation, which has always supported this mechanism, declared the expediency of introducing parallel imports on a permanent basis.
